Sedona Jazz on the Rocks 2008 starts today - A Sedona Tradition since 1981

Come to Sedona and join in celebrating one of our most enduring traditions, Sedona Jazz on the Rocks, which has kicked off Sedona's fall season of events since 1981. It starts today, but if you don't have your tickets yet, not to worry - they're still available and the Festival runs through Sunday with events scheduled daily from September 23rd - September 28th, 2008. There are happenings for jazz lovers of every age, inclination and budget, from a documentary film tonight at Harkins Theatre, to Art Walks and a Free Concert at Tlaquepaque, several Jazz in the Schools events, a Free Clinic with Kenny Werner, Jam Sessions, Dancing (Ballroom anyone? Funky Jazz?), and numerous Dining-with-Jazz opportunites from hors d'oeuvres to multiple dinners to a Sunday Jazz Brunch with Jeff Baker "one of the best male vocalists in the Jazz world today" at the Hilton Sedona.

And let's not forget the centerpiece, the all-day Jazz Fest on Saturday on the beautiful grounds of the Radisson Poco Diablo Resort kicked off by the Sedona Jazz on the Rocks Youth Band.

A word here about SJOR's mission: they are dedicated to preserving Jazz as a living art form through the many educational programs and performances they offer, not just during the Sedona Jazz on the Rocks Festival, but throughout the year.

Headliners this year include the Tony Monaco Trio, Cinco de Moio & Salome, Giacomo Gates and Bobby Hutcherson. A rich cornucopia of other jazz artists are on hand for the sampling during the festival's other offerings, including the several free events: Sedona Celebrates Sedona Jazz showcases eight great local jazz bands on Wednesday from noon to 6:00pm at Tlaquepaque's Patio del Norte and there are two free Art Walks with more local jazz artists Friday & Saturday (including my talented colleague in real estate, Rosemary Chavez with Jazz a la Mode on Friday's program).

For more information visit the official Sedona Jazz on the Rocks website or call 928-282-1985.

If you just can't make it this year, mark your calendar for next year's Jazz Fest: September 22-27, 2009.
