Worthwhile Causes - Sedona, Verde Valley, America & Worldwide
Charity begins at home, but in our Global Economy we must recognize we are also a Global Community. Here are a few causes local to Sedona and the Verde Valley, the Grand Canyon State of Arizona, America and the world. Whether donating money or giving of our time, caring renews our spirits. Each of us have causes that speak to their hearts, and these are a few of mine.
If you ever wonder how much good your donation does (as opposed to how much is eaten up by the administrative costs of bloated organizations), visit Charity Navigator, an amazing resource for information on American charities. One note: just because a charity has not been evaluated by them does not mean they are not worthy - it may mean simply that they are too new or perhaps just too small/local. |

Rebuilding New Orleans Green
You can help Global Green, USA not just to help rebuild New Orleans, but to do it in a "Green" way - healthy, energy efficient homes and schools that could serve as a model for other American cities as well. Not only are the city of New Orleans and its citizens still in dire need, but we need to re-think the way we do things. Great project, and a timely one.

Kiva.org - NOT a charity - innovative way to help change the world.
This creative project seeks to foster change in the world by leveraging the power of the internet to connect ordinary people in a system called Micro Lending. Everyday people can make small loans to candidates all over the world. You can get involved for as little as $25, and according to Kiva repayment rates run at about 97%. If you are on a tight budget yourself, this is a way that you can help make the world a better place while staying within your means.
Very much worth a closer look.
