A note about diversity: my father was in the Foreign Service and served as a Cultural Affairs Officer specializing in English as a Second Language for the State Department and the United States Information Agency for many years. As a result, I had the privilege of growing up and traveling in a number of different countries and cultures. This experience has taught me to relish and treasure the differences that make people different and unique. This appreciation has also reinforced my belief that this country, the United States of America, is stronger when we embrace and honor our diversity.
